Fjord kayaking, Geiranger

Sheltered, glassy water in the mornings makes Geiranger one of the easier places to try sea kayaking. Guided trips of two to three hours paddle out under the waterfalls and along cliffs no road reaches, and beginners are welcome — the fjord has no swell and no tide to speak of. Children from about eight can go in a double kayak with an adult. Book a morning slot before the wind and the cruise-ship tenders arrive.
