Reliable thermal winds at the northern end of the lake.
Garda's north end has two dependable winds — the Peler from the north in the morning, the Ora from the south each afternoon — which is why Torbole and Malcesine are full of windsurfers and dinghies. Schools take beginners from about ten years old, and the same water is calm enough for stand-up paddling before ten in the morning. The southern lake is warmer and better for swimming with small children.
- Peler and Ora thermal winds
- Beginner-friendly schools
- Flat morning water for SUP
