Lake Vänern fishing
Värmland, SwedenFishing Verified details
Europe's third-largest lake, fished for pike, perch and salmon.
Vänern is inland sea rather than lake: 5,600 square kilometres, 22,000 islands, and a genuinely good fishery. Pike and perch are the accessible catch from a small boat or the shore, and the lake also holds landlocked salmon. Fishing permits are cheap and sold locally; a guide is worth it for a first trip. The Djurö archipelago in the middle is a national park.
