Wadden Sea seal safari
South Jutland, DenmarkNature Verified details
Boat and walking trips out to the seal banks of the UNESCO Wadden Sea.
The Wadden Sea is a UNESCO World Heritage tidal flat, and at low water the sandbanks off Fanø and Rømø fill with harbour seals. Trips run by boat from Esbjerg and on foot with guides across the flats. It is genuinely educational and works well with primary-age children, though the walking trips are muddy and cold in anything but summer. Autumn brings the Black Sun starling murmurations to the same marshes.

Campsites that make a good base
Drive times are estimated from road distance, so treat them as a guide rather than a promise.
