At Grenen, Denmark ends in a spit of sand where two seas visibly collide — you can paddle at the exact point, though swimming is forbidden because of the currents. Skagen town itself is yellow houses, an excellent art museum built on the late-19th-century painters' colony, and a working fishing harbour with good, plain seafood. The buried Sand-Covered Church and Råbjerg Mile are short drives away.
