Cookies

We keep this short: a few essentials that make the site work, and optional measurement that helps us count clicks and improve the product. You choose whether the optional part runs.
Necessary — always on
- Your language, currency and consent choice, stored in your browser so the site does not ask again on every page.
- Your session, if you are signed in.
- Saved campsites and recent searches, stored locally in your browser.
Click counting — always on, no cookies
When you follow a link from Bookcamping to a campsite's own website, we count that click. It is how campsite partners are billed, so it is part of delivering the service we are contracted for and it cannot be switched off.
This count is made on our server. No cookie is set and nothing is stored on your device. To avoid billing the same click twice we derive a key from your IP address and browser that changes every 24 hours and cannot be traced back to you; the IP address itself is not kept on this path.
Measurement — only with your consent
- Page views, searches and filters, so we can see which searches fail.
- Clicks through to campsite booking pages, which is what campsite partners are billed for.
- A rotating pseudonymous visitor identifier, so a single person's repeated clicks are not billed twice. It is not linked to your name and is cleared after 90 days.
We use no third-party advertising or profiling cookies.
Changing your mind
Use the cookie settings link in the footer at any time. If you decline, optional measurement stops immediately: no page views, no visitor identifier and no traffic-source data. Anonymous click counting for partner billing continues, as described above.
